Thakkali Saadham



   


Ingredients:


 Rice - 2 cups 

Tomato - 5 nos

Turmeric - a pinch

Red chilli  powder - 1 tsp

Coriander powder - 1 tsp

Onion - 1 (medium size)

Green chillies -  2 nos

Ginger - 1 small piece(chopped)

Salt to taste

 

For Seasoning :


Urad dal   – ½ tsp 

mustard  – ½ tsp 

Red chillies  – 2 nos

Asafetida  –  2 pinch

Curry leaves - a hand full

Coriander leaves  – a hand full  

Sesame oil –  2 tsp


 

Method :


Cook rice, as such the cooked grains are separated well and not sticky.

Chop onion, tomato, ginger, green chilli, curry  leaves and coriander leaves.

Heat a pan with oil , add mustard, then Bengal gram, urad dal, asafoetida, 

broken red chilli , chopped curry, coriander leaves, 

onion, ginger,  green chilli chopped fry till onion is transparent.

Add chopped tomatoes, fry for 2 minutes  add all dry powders and   salt. 

Cook until tomatoes are soft, and mashed with spatula. 

Switch off flame, then add cooked rice, mix well gently.

Colourful tomato rice is ready .  Serve with any dry 

vegetable fry, pachadi.
