Idiyappam (Hot and Sweet)


  

Ingredients :

 

Raw rice flour - 2 cups

Warm water - as you need

salt  - as you need

Ghee - 1 tsp

 

Method :


 Dry  roast the raw rice flour and mix  it  with hot water, ghee and salt

 Knead it into a smooth dough.

 Fill it in an idiyappam  presser  and  press it   onto an idli pan.  

 Steam for 5-10 minutes. 

 Add a little grated coconut on top before steaming  (it is optional)

 In a non-stick pan put oil ,add mustard to splutter and 

 add chopped onion , green chillies and curry leaves,

 saute for 2 or 3 minutes.

 After it turns into golden brown add the idiyappam

 and mix it well. 

 Turn off the heat and  Squeeze a half lemon 

 mix well without broke the idiyappam.   


 Sweet Idiyappam :


You  can  do  sweet  idiyappam  in  two  ways .   

Dissolve the idiyappam  in  sweetened  coconut  milk  is the  one  way . 

The  another  way  is  mix   the  shreded  coconut with the idiyappam and 

sprinkle sugar on the top.
