Raw rice  -   2 cups

Urad dal - 1tbs

Coconut  (shreded)    -  2 cups

Cooked rice  - 1 cup

Sugar - 1 tbs

Salt   to taste

Method :

Soak the raw rice and urad dal for 5 to 6 hours. 

Drain the water grind rice , urad dal , cooked rice and the shreded  coconut. 

Add salt and allow it to ferment for 6 hours. 

After 6 hours add sugar and mix well. 

Heat a non stick pan pour a cup of grinded mixture and

gently swirl the pan  to get  good shape appam.

Cover with a  lid and cook in  medium heat till the 

edges become golden brown

and the middle of the appam should spongy  

like in the picture.                                                              

Now appam is ready , serve with coconut milk.
