 Poori Masala

  

       

Ingredients :



Potato - 1 cup (Boiled, Peeled and Smashed)

Onion - 3 nos (Chopped lengthwise)

Green chilly - 4 nos (Split)

Carrot - 2 nos (Cleaned and Grated)(optional)

Channa dhal - 2 tbs 

(Soaked, Boiled and Drained) (optional)

Ginger 1 tsp (Crushed)

Tomato - 1 no (chopped) 

Turmeric powder - 1 pinch

Pottu kadalai powder - 1 tbs

Coriander leaves - a handfull
  

For Seasoning:


Oil -2 tbs

Mustard seeds - 2 tsp

Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

Asafoetida - a pinch

Sombu - 1 tsp

Curry leaves - A handfull

Method:


In a bowl add water to pottu kadalai   powder make a thin batter and keep it a side.

In a non stick pan of oil ,  put mustard , sombu and cumin seeds , 

after  splutter add asafoetida , turmeric and curry leaves. 

Don't allow to burn. Cook in medium flame.  

Add onion ,  chopped tomato green chillies  and ginger  saute for 5 minutes. 

Raw smell of onion goes , add mashed potatoes , cooked channa dhal and salt 

saute for 2 minutes

Finally pour the pottu kadalai  batter stir well to mingle with onion mixture. 

cook for 2 or 3 minutes masala is ready. 

Garnish with coriander leaves and grated carrot. 

It is  perfect match for pooris and Ghee roast. 


Note :  

Adding cooked channa dhal and grated carrot is an optional step 

to increase the quantity of Masala
