Beans paruppu usili



 Beans -  1 cup

 Kadalai paruppu - 1/2 cup

 Thuvaram paruppu - 1 tbs

 Cumin seeds  - 1 tsp 

 Red chillies  - 3 nos

 Green chillies - 2 nos 

 Asafoetida  - a pinch

 Curry leaves - a handfull
 Salt to taste

 Oil for frying

 Preperation of Usili:

Wash and soak kadala paruppu and tur dal for 2 hours. 

Grind it along with green chilli, red chilli, salt and asafoetida 

coarsely without adding water. Keep it aside.

Steam the grounded dal in greased idly pan or steamer. 

When dal is cooked, allow it to cool. 

Then blend it in a mixie just for a few seconds.
You can crumble the dal with your hands also but 

using the blender gives you uniform particles.

Usili is ready.


Wash and cut beans and boil it with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder. 

Add to the usili. 

In a pan at medium heat put oil and crackle 

cumin seeds and curry leaves. 

Then add the  cooked beans and the usili. 

Very very careful to add salt,because usili and beans had already salt.

Delicious beans paruppu usili is  ready to  serve. 

It can be served with any of the rice items.
